Now I drive the bus!
Jul. 17th, 2009 12:54 amIt’s official.
As of a couple days ago I’m not just your Friendly Neighborhood Gun Nut™, I’m now an officially certified Friendly Neighborhood Gun Nut.
I got my credentials from both the NRA and The State of Massachusetts to teach two courses: NRA Basic Pistol, and NRA Home Firearm Safety. Either will fulfill the state’s safety course requirement when applying for a gun license. Neither is a self-defense course.
Home Firearm Safety is not a shooting course, it’s a “don’t hurt anyone”, safe handling, safety course. It covers the basics of how guns and ammo work, safe storage, unloading, etc. but no actual shooting. It takes about 4 hours.
Basic pistol covers almost everything in Firearm Safety (no rifle or shotgun), plus the fundamentals of pistol shooting. It's enough to keep you busy for a long time. It takes about 10 hours (not all at once, thankfully) and there is live fire range time.
So, if you or someone you know is interested in getting a Massachusetts LTC or just wants to learn to shoot, let me know. I don’t have a schedule yet, it’ll depend on interest and availability of range time and stuff.
Pass it on.
