Don't be "that guy"
Jan. 6th, 2009 10:22 pmI'm doing my best to not be "that guy."
In this case, "that guy" is the one who keeps every record of every transaction and every receipt and every brochure and piece of paper associated with anything and everything. You know, credit card receipts for gas and food and other things that can't be taken back, statements for credit cards and accounts that have been closed for over 10 years, warranty information for things that are 4 times the warranty length out of warranty, stock and 401k information for companies that haven't existed since the house before last. Shit like that.
It's against my nature, and difficult for me to throw things away, but I'm getting better. Much better. You could call it a new years resolution, except that it started about 9 months ago, and it's not a specific resolution as such. Just a thing that I recognized I need to work on, and will always be something I need to work on.
Today I threw away Bell Atlantic statements from 1997. Seriously. I'm onto my second shopping bag of old papers to throw away so far.
It feels really good.
