Tempo Bistro in Waltham

I went with a few friends to Tempo Bistro on Moody St. in Waltham the other night.
I really liked it.
upsides:
- food was fantastic I had the duck.
- waitstaff (at least the one we had) was cheerful, sociable, knowledgeable about the menu, and interested in making sure we got food we wanted and liked.
- they have a "mini desert" menu for a couple bucks each if you only want a couple bites of desert. They also have a "three-fer" (my name) for $10 that's three of the mini-deserts. Three of us split the three-fer and it was exactly right.
- portions are sized right. Enough that you're not hungry, but not so much that you feel bloated.
downsides:
- kinda spendy for my tastes if it's not a special occasion, about $27 for an entree. the four of us spent $260ish including a bottle of wine and a couple drinks.
- a little noisy, at least at 8:00 on a Saturday night.
- they had two televisions playing sports, but no sound from them.
That's not a lot of downsides. It was absolutely worth the money, and going earlier or on a different night would mitigate the sound some. I can also face away from the TVs if I think to.
One thing I really liked is that they didn't take away *any* of our plates until we were *all* done eating. I fucking *hate* it when they get all in the way, so they they can "get that out of your way." NO! The plate is *not* in my way. YOU are in my way. I also hate it when I'm the only one still eating and all the other plates are clear. Being the only one still eating at an empty table is tantamount to, "Hurry up, we want to leave/get dessert/whatever" or worse, "we want you out of our restaurant so we can get more customers in." It's not fun to be rushed, and food should never be rushed. Leaving all the plates until the end is something I've only ever seen in fancy/upscale restaurants. I bet there's a reason for that.
