Cowboys and Aliens
Aug. 22nd, 2011 01:44 pmIt met my expectations. That's not a criticism, I expected it to be a fun movie, maybe even a good movie.
The characters were written and presented well enough that even if there weren't aliens, there was enough meat there for a decent western all by itself.
Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, and Sam Rockwell were all good, as expected. It was nice to see Ford in a different, not-a-hero role.
As usual, check your rational mind at the door, a fair amount of willing suspensio n of disbelief is necessary. (duh, aliens) Some bits were predictable, but overall it was a good time, and worth full price at the movie theater.
I thought it was particularly appropriate to cast13 Olivia Wilde in that roll, 'cuz she ... well... she does kinda look like a space alien.
Watch Craig's gun handling, specifically the re-holstering. He's mostly smooth about it, but not always. At least once he flubs it. I thought it was a great they left that in, (or chose to put it in), making him more real (you know, for an escaped prisoner of space aliens)
Oh, yea, the butler did it. Rosebud was the sled. The chick is a dude. It's made of people. He's actually dead. They're living in current times, just isolated from the world. The Titanic sinks. He's a clone but doesn't know it.
