AT&T fail...
Aug. 11th, 2011 12:56 pmI went into an AT&T store today to get a sim card for my iPad. I refused to let them do a credit check for a month-to-month plan, so the guy said I could just sign up through iTunes.
That's not actually true, there doesn't seem to be any overlap between iTunes and an AT&T data plan.
In any case, he showed me how to sign up through the 'pad, without handing over my SSN. Pay in advance using a credit card. (isn't the use of a credit card supposed to negate any need for a credit check? Isn't that one of the points of a credit card?)
So, we're playing with it and the cell network, trying to get it to work. Really slow, incomplete page loads, failure.
"Feh, I'll try at home later, I don't need to do this here." I say.
I was right. What took multiple tries and eventually failed AT THE AT&T STORE, worked fine at home.
That's right. The AT&T store has shitty AT&T coverage.
