milktree: (police state)
Howard Morgan, a black ex cop employed as a detective for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe railroad was pulled over within a block of his house for driving the wrong way down a one way street.

Four white Chicago police officers accused him of opening fire with his duty weapon when they tried to arrest him, hitting him 28 times, and leaving him for dead.[1]

He survived.

Then he was convicted of attempted murder and is serving a 40 year sentence despite being cleared of three other charges, including one of firing his gun, despite that his van was crushed before any investigation could be done, despite never being tested himself for powder residue that would prove if he'd fired his gun, despite the state's inability to produce the bullet proof vest the white officer claims to have been shot in (they produced a replica in court).

What the fucking fuck?

How can any police department ever honestly wonder why "the public" doesn't trust them?
