DCK
When I car pooled to work I used to ride with a guy... er... he didn't have a car, so he'd ride with me.... who had a huge collection of "keep the kids occupied on long car rides" games.
One of them was to look at license plates and come up with the shortest word that could be made with the letters on the plate, using them in the same order. If two words were the same length, the one that came first alphabetically won.
It got stuck in my head, and I do that out of habit now.
Today I saw a plate that was DCK-### (numbers) Or maybe ###-DCK. Doesn't matter.
Obviously I came up with "DICK" (boy, duh) first. then dock, deck, and duck.
Thinking about those four words made me realize how much of a pain it must be to learn English, especially if your native language is missing one of those vowel sounds.
